Young Carers in the Forest of Dean working with Artspace
Artspace is working in partnership with Gloucestershire Young Carers
Since April 2009 Artspace has been working in partnership with Gloucestershire Young Carers to provide a range of arts activities for young carers in the Forest of Dean. Currently we are working with two junior and one senior group. Whilst most of these activites take place at the New Mercury, we provide some activities as outreach.
The groups choose from a number of activities including circus skills, pottery, painting, print making, animation and photography.
This enables the young carers to participate in activities with their peers outside of their home environment, and work with an artist.
In the New Year we are working on a drama project with members of the senior group to produce a short piece for their conference in February.
A grant from the Forest Children and Young Peoples Access to Services Group, Youth Offer Fund currently funds the senior group, this grant runs out in March 2010.
